Shade rolls out supporter list. In her bid to replace Council Member Jennifer Kim in the May 10 election, Place 3 challenger Randi Shade rolled out a long list of supporters online yesterday at www.randishade.com. Here are some of the heavy hitters on Shade's list of more than 400 Austinites:
lawyers Tommy Jacks, Joe Bill Watkins and Jim Cousar, bankers Eddie Safety and Bill McClellan, PR maven Kerry Tate, developers Kirk Rudy and Andy Pastor of Endeavor, Opportunity Austin Chair Gary Farmer, former Austin Mayor Bruce Todd and former Council member Lowell Liebermann; Travis County Healthcare District Board Chair Carl Richie, and former Planning Commission Chair Chris Riley. Other supporters include 2005 Kim opponent Gregg Knaupe of the Texas Hospital Association, Kim's former aide Belinda Roberts, and her 2005 campaign manager, Amy Everhart. Longtime Democratic activist Liz Carpenter, LifeWorks Executive Director Susan McDowell and Girlstart leader Rachel Muir also endorsed Shade. Mark Nathan, Shade's campaign consultant, reminds voters that early voting begins April 28 for the May 10 Council election . . .
